Migrating from Homegrown System to Robust Salesforce CPQ

The client is into construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, and diesel-electric locomotives. 

Business Needs

Client's Power Systems team was using a homegrown system in Lotus Notes to support Sales and Project managers for various activities such as Sales, Invoicing, Vendor management, etc. However, they were facing issues such as, DBS and Salesforce were disconnected, lack of scalability, and end-to-end project visibility.


Team analyzed role wise current application navigation and flow. 

Implemented Sales cloud and Salesforce CPQ for Sale and project team.  

Integrated with DBS for migration of Product configuration and information.

Built a tool that enables everyone to visually see a project from start to finish.

Presented SAP data in Salesforce (e.g. PO related to project and invoicing).

Provided ability to track info on quote iterations.

Identified gaps between configuration and setup.  


Shifting to Salesforce ecosystem has enabled client to achieve not just operational excellence but also boost employee morale.
